Power Comparision between Gaza Soldiers and the IDF
In October 2023, a photo was posted on Twitter X a few days after Hamas attacked Israel. The photo was of a training manual that the Israelis took from the pocket of a Hamas fighter after killing him. The manual contained detailed instructions with photographs on how to destroy an Israeli Markova Mark 4 tank. The manual shows two rocket launchers on one Chinese and one Russian tank with green and red markings indicating which parts of the tank are weak and strong.
Weak Points and Tactical Instructions
The green markings meant that damaging these parts could render the tank temporarily useless. It will take some time for Israeli forces to repair the tank after the attack. Red marks that hit these areas deal a lot of damage to the tank. It can be damaged to the point of being unusable on the battlefield. In addition, Markova also wrote detailed instructions in the manual to render the tank’s security system useless. In addition to this training manual, a video was also released showing how Hamas is destroying Israeli tanks by dropping bombs from the air. These videos and manuals determined that the ground battle in Gaza would be intense between Israeli Markova tanks and Hamas RPG7 rockets.
Urban Warfare Dynamics
But, these two weapons were not the only ones being used in the Gaza war. Because it was a complex kind of civil war where fighting was going on in the streets, in the basements, and in the tunnels, inside the multi-storied buildings. He had numerous weapons and weapons that Israel and Hamas had been developing for decades.
Tavor Gun and Negev Light Machine Gun
After October 7, 2023, we will review one of the most important weapons used and explain why Israel, despite all its might, has not ended Hamas’s resistance. The Israeli army, the IDF’s main weapon in the Gaza civil war, is its two guns. One of them is a turret gun and the other is a negative light machine gun. Hamas meets both of them with the AK47 and the Chinese ‘Type 8’ machine gun.
Tavor Gun: Design and Features
The Tavor gun is a rifle designed specifically for civilian warfare. Its design is very different from normal guns. In normal guns, the magazine is mounted in front of the trigger, making it difficult to balance. Thus, the balance of this gun is better than normal guns. Commonly used guns have a safety switch on the right side, making the gun easier to use for right-handed people. However, left-handers find it difficult.
But the Turret has safety switches, so both hands can use it easily. The Turret gun is equipped with an advanced laser sight system. This makes it easy to aim even in basements, tunnels, and poorly lit buildings. This gun can fire 950 rounds in a minute. It has a range of 550 meters i.e. a little over one and a half kilometers. Israeli soldiers used American M-16 and M-4 rifles before the Tavor gun. Since they had this gun, they gave it using American guns.
AK-47: Advantages and Limitations
Compared to the Tavor gun, the famous AK47 Kalashnikov used by Hamas fighters. This gun can fire 600 rounds in a minute. Its effective range is 350 meters. Its range and rate of fire is much lower than the Israeli turret gun.
It also lacks the turret gun’s balance and laser sight system. A quality of the Hamas AK-47 is better than the Tavor gun. That is, the AK-47 uses the 7.62mm round. While the size of one round of Tavern gun is 5.6 mm. That is, the AK-47 fires heavier rounds than the Tavor. Therefore, his bullet can cause more damage to the enemy.
Negev Light Machine Gun: Capabilities and Features
Another gun that Israel is using in this fight is the negative light machine gun. This gun can fire 150 rounds per minute. Its range is a little over a kilometer. This machine gun has two major features.
First, it is equipped with Israel’s most visible sighting system, the “Dagger”. It is a computerized device that tracks targets and tells the gunner when to fire. In addition, it detects the direction and speed of Hamas drones and automatically locks the gun on them. This makes it much easier for the gunner to hit his target. This system is 350% better than older technologies with automatic tracking.
Another advantage of the Negev gun is that its bullets can sometimes tear through a thick concrete wall. That is, the enemy cannot escape from the gun by taking the cover of the wall.
Type 80 Machine Gun: Comparison to Negev
Hamas fighters use a variant copy of the Type 80 Chinese machine gun against the Negev gun. The maximum range of this gun is 1.5 km. While it can fire 800 rounds in 1 minute. It also uses the same rounds as the Nego gun, so its bullets can potentially penetrate walls. Its range is slightly longer than the Israeli negative light machine gun. But the fact is that it has a lot of disadvantages compared to Negau.
That is, the Hamas Type 8 does not have a sophisticated tracking system like the “Dagger”. So it is more difficult to hit a target than an Israeli gun. That is, the gunner has no mechanical guidance.
Merkava Tank vs. RPG-7: Strengths and Weaknesses
Now let’s talk about the most important weapons i.e. Merkava Tank and RPG 7. The Israeli army uses the Markava Mk4 tank in the Gaza conflict. The tank wanted its crew to be safe from enemy attack. Fire from any direction cannot breach this protection and harm the personnel inside. Not even a drone bomb could breach it and harm the soldiers inside. Since the turret also controls the tank firing system.
All these were the power points of this tank but there are some flaws in this tank which Hamas fighters issued a training manual to take advantage of. Its weak points have been moved to the outside of the tank to protect the crew inside the tank. So that the crew of the tank is not affected in any way.
